requirement 6 on the project - after speaking with justin

Hello professor,

Justin just asked you about item 6 in the requirements section for Project 2. We at fishfood are not too sure what you expect?

here is the requirement:

A lsttab report showing the Oracle tables and views you are using for Project 2. This report should not list any extraneous tables or views that do not relate to the project.

Thank you for your help. I had a great time in your class and definitely learned alot. Thank you Professor Gibson!

adding a picture etc?...

I was trying to add a picture as well into the html, but I'm not to sure where to upload it. Any suggestions? Would it be better if I reference from some other website? Or is that possible. I'm a little rusty on my html from CIS301.

Problems with formatting

Does anyone know how to format the html? I have been trying to play around with the formatting. I put in the code correctly. I'm pretty sure it is correct, and for some reason, it is not picking up my changes. I can add text no problem, but when I format the background color or text color, nothing seems to work. Is there some kind of a template that is in place that is not letting me change the formatting?

another minor technicality

We were also just noticed another problem with the date format. In the HTML version of the query results, the date is displayed along with a "0.0.0". We are assuing this is for the time of day. We obviosuly want to get rid of it but don't know how. The zeroes don't show up in our sql and xml, but somehow it shows up in the html. Any ideas on how to get around this?

Thanks.

problem with having column header

Hi,

my group and I are a little stuck on the having the column header display as we want it to. In our raw code, we wanted to display a certain column with a certain name. However in the html, the column header shows up as blank. It works in SQL and XML, but it doesn't show up in html. We were wondering if anyone else was having this problem and if you know how to fix it? Thanks.

question about associative entities

Hello,

I have a quick question about the project. My group was going over our ER diagram and we encountered something that looked very odd. It was an associative entity, linked to 2 other associative entities. We looked at the attributes and everything look as if it were in place. Everything seemed to make sense. We have just never seen an associative entity linked with another associative entity before. We were wondering if anyone has ever encountered anything like this, and if this would be legit? Please get back to me if you can. Thank you.

Date

My group and I were having some problems with the date type in our project. For some reason, it just wouldn't go through. We did the format in the book, tried all kinds of formats and the stubborn program just won't run our code. I really remember why I hate C++ and coding. Little things that slow down the process of the group. I wish there were a smart program out there that had comman sense. JKJK. Well, I think our group is doing well. We're making a lot of progress and all the different parts are starting to come together now. Will keep posting about the problems we encounter.

Topic chosen

Hello,

My group in has already decided upon a topic for our project. We were planning to design a database for a local restaurant on campus. We just had a couple of questions that we needed to clear up.

1. In the guidelines, we noticed there was a requirement of 12 entities. We were wondering if this meant that there were 12 entities needed or 12 entity types needed?

2. The restaurant has all their data in paper/physical form. They do not have an electronic form of a database. Is it ok to build the database from scratch?

3. How many entries do we need to populat the database?

If anyone can help clarify our questions, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

No major projects yet.

Aside from setting up the blogs and etc., I don't have any huge projects as of now.
