Name of the CEO on Forbes?....

Does anybody remember the name of the person that came to speak about using Google to market his company for free? He was the tall man that was on the front page of Forbes magazine. I wanted to do a little of research about him for my communications class. I have to write a memo to the CEO of a toy company on the possibilities of having a web presence for its toy retail business. They have a limit on their capital since their sales have been stagnant. The method the person that spoke to us of using Google to get his company know seemed like a great way to have a web presence for virtually no money spent. I would like to mention his method in my memo. So if anybody remembers his name, it would be great. Thanks

So many interviews coming up..

I am emphasizing my studies in finance. But I also have BIT as another emphasis. I originally planned to have BIT as a supplement to finance to ensure my effectiveness as an intern. Through internships, I saw the need to be profficient in technology and the need for it. That is the major reason I chose BIT as an emphasis.
However, during the past few interviews I had, the company thought I was an IT guy. And I got the impression that they thought my focus wasn't directly in Finance, which limited my emphasis in finance. I'm starting to wonder how I can express to companies that I want to do Finance, but I am using bit to get there.

Job search going ....

Just came back from a corporate presentation today. These companies are starting to sound more and more alike. Why is it that so many people go to investment banking presentations, leaving such little attendence at other corporate presentations, like GE or Ford for example. These are huge companies and they are the clients banks probably flock to for business. But there is such a low demand for these positions. I spoke with representatives from some very large companies on campus, and they asked me what field the majority of the UMBS students are interested in. I told them banking and they asked why. I had no idea. I guess it was the $$?
I found myself within the majority of the Business School class, going to all the banking presentations.
Actually, today, the presentation was quite interesting. Well, the presentation was stupid, but the people I spoke to after were cool. I spoke to one person, and he flat out told me that all the banks are the same, and all the things you learn and do will be the same. That was the first time I ever heard that from a person trying to sell the company. It definitely had an impact on me, and my perspective of the industry. Not to mention that his eyes were completely blood shot, yet he was so hyper. But there are no major breakthrough decisions yet. Guess only time will tell.
Heres a little site about the future of I-Banking.....

My use of blog sites for a car.

I mentioned previously that I had utlized several sites for advice on import cars. Yeah, yeah. I know a lot of you are probably snickering when you read this. You're probably thinking, why in the world is this guy thats in college, still into import cars. I honestly don't know. I remember when I was in High School, I had my first car, a yellow Integra. Even though its not exactly a nice car, the times I had with it were really fun. Driving around late at night, trying to instigate a races with randomn cars, or racing with friends. When I thought about it, thats what I really enjoy. I guess I'm going through some kind of an early life crisis. And there is no way, I would do that with a nice car. If I race with some cheap import car, and crash, at least I won't feel to bad. So thats my justification on that point.
Well, I just got a civic this summer so I can modify so I can race it. Its all in the works. Its just sitting in the garage, rotting away. I'm planning on putting in a turbocharged Honda Prelude engine in it to gain a little advantage. I encountered some serious problems with that swap, problems that I would've never know had I just went to a garage for information. There were serious problems like the frame of the car bending because theres a lot of metal cutting to force fit the larger engine in the civic. Well, theres a lot of literature and information about the swap in this website. If you're into import racing, check it out. It may be of help you, like it was for me.
Heres the link. I'm pretty sure its a blog since they are all posts.

Blogs are cool!

I actually never heard of the term blogging until the start of this class even though according to the linked article, its been around since 1994. I actually had some direct interaction with blog like websites where I was able to view comments on the import auto scene. I had been an import car fanatic at one point in my life. I had an import car which I was looking to modify. I looked up various parts etc. on google, and the issues I raised would always bring me to a blog-like site. The participants write down their own commentary and experiences giving me a lot of insight I would have never known through a parts manufacturuer website. I definitely learned I lot through these postings, info only from people who have experience and who have tried various auto setups. Here is an article about blogging....
